Cologne as a trade fair location
Koelnmesse is one of Europe's largest exhibition centres. Leading fairs such as Anuga, imm cologne, gamescom and DMEXCO bring exhibitors and trade visitors from around the world to Deutz. For exhibitors that means busy halls, many neighbouring stands and tight windows between closing time and the evening programme.
Two trade fair formats in Cologne are backed by client testimonials on this website: for Koelnmesse we played the ISM Opening Night — welcoming thousands of international guests at the start of the sweets fair. And at the dental fair (IDS) we played for Bredent in the hall at Gate 2, right in the middle of a running hall with all its restrictions. We have also performed at the IDS for Ivoclar — meaning we have supported two dental companies at the same fair.
Stand party after closing
The main format: after closing, the stand becomes a meeting point. Conversations deepen, clients stay longer, contacts become relationships. Line-up, volume and duration depend on stand size and neighbours — from duo to full band.
Receptions and daytime at the stand
During the day, the conversation comes first. Smaller line-ups — acoustic sets, walking acts or solo saxophone — create atmosphere and catch the eye without drowning out business talks. Music that carries conversations.
What's different at a trade fair
Bare, reverberant halls
Exhibition halls are acoustically bare and reverberant. Sound has to be focused tightly on the stand so the music stays clear and doesn't carry through the hall.
Volume restrictions
The fair organiser sets level limits towards neighbouring stands. We choose line-up and equipment so we reliably stay within them.
Tight time windows
There are often only minutes between closing and showtime. We pre-build so the transition happens without dead time — and strike just as quickly.
Limited power at the stand
Power at the stand is limited. We clarify connection loads in advance so catering, lighting and band can run side by side.
Delivery through the fair
Delivery, hall access and passes are handled by the fair organiser. We plan them in early.
Stand builder & hall management
Stage area, cable routes and clearances are agreed with the stand builder and hall management — before the stand is built, not afterwards.
Line-ups for trade fairs
Solo saxophone
For daytime and receptions: present yet conversation-friendly, with minimal space and power needs.
Acoustic duo
Vocals with guitar or piano — ideal for smaller stands and receptions with trade visitors.
Walking act
Mobile musicians moving through the stand and aisle, engaging visitors directly.
DJ + live
DJ with saxophone, percussion or vocals — flexible in length and compact to set up.
Full band
7–10 musicians for the big stand party, when stand size, power and rules allow.
From our artist pool of more than 50 artists we put together the line-up to fit the stand, occasion and rules.
Frequently asked
How much does a band for a stand party in Cologne cost?
In Cologne, a professional live band costs between approx. €2,600 and €25,000 net, depending on line-up and playing time. Entry level is a duo from around €2,600, or a duo with DJ from around €3,800; the full line-up goes up to €25,000. Travel and accommodation are shown transparently in the proposal. Smaller line-ups for receptions and daytime music are priced lower accordingly.
How much space does the band need at the stand?
That depends on the line-up: a solo saxophone or walking act needs hardly any space, an acoustic duo a small corner, a full band its own performance area. We agree the area early with your stand builder so it is included in the stand plan.
How loud can we play at the stand?
Koelnmesse sets the level limits towards neighbouring stands; we choose line-up and sound accordingly. Our sound engineer focuses the system tightly on the stand so neighbouring conversations are not disturbed.
How long does setup take after closing?
We pre-build as much as possible so only a few steps remain after closing. At Koelnmesse we plan delivery and hall access through the fair organiser so we are ready to start right after closing.
Can you play just for the reception, without a party?
Yes. For receptions and daytime music we use smaller line-ups — solo saxophone, acoustic duo or walking act. The music carries conversations instead of drowning them out.
Do you bring equipment?
We bring concert-standard backline, in-ear monitoring and our own sound engineer. Room sound and stage lighting are coordinated with the venue or production. On request we bring the complete system — we price that in the proposal. At trade fairs we also coordinate with the stand builder, hall management and the technical management of Koelnmesse.
Do you work with our event agency and stand builder?
Yes. We agree running order, cues, areas and equipment directly with your agency and stand builder and fit into the existing production. You have one fixed contact person with us.
What drives the price — line-up, playing time, travel, technical setup — is covered in detail in our journal: What does a live band cost?
