What sets the Frankfurt Christmas party market apart
A financial centre and a trade fair city at once: banks, consultancies, law firms, insurers and international branch offices all ask about their December evenings inside the same short window between late November and mid-December. Thursdays and Fridays go first, while the fair calendar takes up hotel capacity across town on top of that. Anyone able to switch to a Wednesday, a Saturday or the opening days of December gets the wider choice of house as well as band.
Many of the best rooms here sit high above the street, which changes planning fundamentally. A conference floor or a banking hall in a tower is reached by a goods lift whose dimensions and load rating are fixed, and the route to it runs through a security desk working from a name list. Time slots are strict: delivery, build, soundcheck and strike each carry their own hour. Whatever has not been registered does not enter the building.
Then there is the international audience. A large share of these evenings runs in two languages — address and awards in German as well as English, hosting alternating between them, a song selection drawing on international repertoire. For the music that means the set list has to work in both directions, and the programme section needs more time than a single-language evening demands. Both go into our running order.
Almost every company Christmas party also carries a programme before the music: the address by senior management, the review of the year, awards for long-serving colleagues — on exhibition and congress floors frequently with an in-house control position and a cue list. That section needs clean sound, tight timing and a quiet room, and it decides how much of the evening is left for dancing.
Christmas evenings we have played
We played the Christmas party of the basketball club AS Monaco three years running — an evening at the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo built around a programme section, dinner and a long night on the dance floor. A second documented Christmas booking is the Vodafone Christmas party; the client quote for it appears under “Client Impressions”.
There is also a December evening built from a programme section, an awards moment and a dance floor afterwards: the McDonald's Benefits Gala. The agency staging the event booked us — so our client was the agency, not the company.
None of those evenings took place in Frankfurt. For Frankfurt we list no Christmas party as a reference, because there is none to list. What carries over is experience of the format, and of the venue types this city offers in December.

Banking hall in a tower
Representative, acoustically hard, and above all hard to reach: the entire build travels through a goods lift of fixed internal dimensions and limited load rating, behind a security desk asking for a name list and photo ID. We register crew, vehicles and cases beforehand, confirm the lift dimensions in writing, then pack the backline to those dimensions — otherwise the stage stays on the ground floor.
Conference floor high above the street
Carpet, glass, a suspended ceiling: a controlled room served by a fixed house system whose volume ceiling cannot be negotiated, because people work and sleep below as well as above. We fix that ceiling with the in-house technicians in advance and run in-ear monitoring, so stage level never dictates the room. Door widths along the route from lift to room get checked too — keyboards and cases have to pass through them.
Exhibition and congress space
Large floors, an in-house control position, a cue list of its own: the evening here follows a schedule rather than improvisation. Our engineer takes the cue list in advance, agreeing entries, playback and transitions with the control position. The second obstacle is the delivery slot, shared by catering, technical crews and band along the same route — we register our delivery inside it.
Hotel ballroom
Parquet, mirrored surfaces, a wide floor under a comparatively low ceiling, plus guest rooms above the hall. The volume ceiling on the house system and the curfew for the loud part of the evening are settled with the in-house technicians in advance. Between seated dinner and open dance floor sits a changeover costing minutes that have to appear in the schedule.
Event space in an Ostend industrial building
Concrete, steel, hall height: barely an absorbing surface, a long reverb tail, speech losing intelligibility first. We calculate coverage for the guest floor rather than the stage. The second obstacle is the power supply, dimensioned for exhibitions or catering instead of kitchen, lighting and stage at once — we check the fusing beforehand and bring our own distribution.
Winery or country estate in the Rheingau
The out-of-town option for companies wanting distance from the office: a vaulted cellar, a courtyard hall or a barn with warm timber acoustics. The obstacle is the curfew, which outside the city can fall earlier than downtown, along with access and load-in across yards and gateways. We plan for both, and December travel pushes the reception back — that goes into the running order as well.
The Christmas evening, step by step
Five sections, five volumes. The transitions between them are agreed in writing beforehand — together with you, the venue, the control position and the in-house technicians.
01
Reception
An acoustic set as guests arrive: warm, conversation-friendly, while coats are checked and the first glasses go round. In winter the cloakroom backs up and the reception starts later — that is planned for.
02
Speech & awards
Microphones, playback and sound support from our front-of-house position, with walk-in music as well as fanfares on request. Programme sections running in two languages need more time than single-language ones, so we schedule them accordingly.
03
Dinner
A reduced line-up at controlled volume: the music carries the room while table conversation stays easy. In hard rooms we play considerably further back than the line-up would allow.
04
Party
Full line-up with charts, soul, funk and party hits that bring an international audience of every age onto the dance floor. The latest point at which the floor has to open is fixed in the running order beforehand.
05
Handover to the DJ
After the final live set our DJ takes over without a gap, carrying the night through to the agreed curfew — at the level that has been agreed for the room.
One point gets settled too late in Frankfurt almost every time: in towers and on congress floors it is not only the curfew that runs to the clock, but delivery and strike as well. We ask the venue, the control position and the in-house technicians for those slots instead of assuming them, then place the peak of the night before the moment levels have to come down.
Equipment: what we bring, what the venue provides
Our standard is concert-grade backline, in-ear monitoring and our own front-of-house sound engineer. PA, room coverage and lighting are usually provided by the organiser or the venue, so we coordinate all of it with the in-house technicians in advance. On request Gemini Music supplies the complete system — that item is then priced separately in the quote.
In Frankfurt this groundwork decides the schedule in particular. Tower floors, hotel ballrooms and congress spaces run a fixed installation driven by the in-house crew or the control position; an industrial building or a country estate often provides nothing. The goods lift comes on top: whatever does not fit the cabin never reaches the upper floors. Both get settled before the quote rather than during load-in.
What a Christmas party band in Frankfurt costs
Depending on line-up and playing time, from around €2,600 up to €25,000 net. Entry level is a duo from around €2,600, a duo with DJ from around €3,800; the large line-up goes up to €25,000. Travel costs and accommodation are excluded from those figures and listed transparently as separate items in the quote.
Three variables drive the figure: line-up, playing time, and the technical demands of the room. A duo for the reception and a whole evening with a large line-up, a bilingual programme section as well as a DJ handover therefore sit far apart. After a short briefing on date, venue and guest count you receive a binding quote within 24 hours, every item spelled out.
Frequently asked
How much does a band for a Christmas party in Frankfurt cost?
Depending on line-up and playing time, from around €2,600 up to €25,000 net. Entry level is a duo from around €2,600, a duo with DJ from around €3,800; the large line-up goes up to €25,000. How early should we book a December date?
As early as you can. The window between late November and mid-December is short, and inside it Thursdays and Fridays go first — for venues just as much as for bands. With your date, venue and guest count you receive availability and a binding quote within 24 hours. Anyone able to switch to a Wednesday, a Saturday or the opening days of December has the wider choice.
Can the band host the evening in two languages?
Yes. Speeches, awards and hosting can run in German as well as English, while the set list covers international repertoire. Programme sections in two languages take longer than single-language ones, so we allow for that in the running order and the dance floor does not end up shorter.
How does load-in work in a tower?
Through the goods lift and past the security desk, both of which need preparation. We register crew, vehicles and cases by name in advance, confirm the cabin's internal dimensions and load rating as well as the door widths on the route to the room, then pack the backline to those figures. Delivery, build, soundcheck and strike each get a fixed hour in the running order.
Does the band bring the sound equipment?
We bring concert-grade backline, in-ear monitoring and our own front-of-house sound engineer. PA, room coverage and lighting are usually provided by the organiser or the venue, so we coordinate them with the in-house technicians beforehand. On request we supply the complete system at extra cost — that item then appears in the quote.
What drives the price — line-up, playing time, travel, technical setup — is covered in detail in our journal: What does a live band cost?
