Live music for your wedding ceremony: civil, church, outdoor
Every ceremony has three musical moments that matter: the processional, the exchange of rings and the recessional. In between are small transitions — while the register is signed, while guests take their seats. Our piano and vocals duo plays exactly at those points, with a wedding ceremony singer, timed precisely to the order of service we agree with you and your officiant beforehand.
Civil ceremony
Music at a civil ceremony is possible at most registry offices, subject to the office's approval. The setting is short and intimate: one piece for the processional, one for the rings, one for the recessional — vocals and a compact piano, because the room is often small.
Church wedding
For a church wedding we agree the programme with the priest, minister or parish. Many churches have their own organ and a fixed liturgy; our duo adds to it at the points you choose — from the processional through the vows to the recessional.
Outdoor or humanist ceremony
A free-form ceremony leaves the most room: in a garden, on a terrace, by the water or in a barn. Here we shape the whole programme with you — processional, rings, recessional and the moments in between — and bring a compact, discreet setup that works outdoors.
You choose the songs. We suggest, you select — or you bring your own pieces and we arrange them for piano and voice. The song you share, a piece with family history, something only the two of you understand: sung live, it lands differently than any recording. We choose the wedding ceremony singer to match your selection from our ensemble.
Drinks reception music and live aperitif
After the ceremony comes the part of the day when everyone breathes out for the first time: congratulations, photos, the first glass. A drinks reception needs music that carries the moment without drowning it out — warm, conversation-friendly, pieces guests recognise without having to listen closely. That is exactly what the piano and vocals duo is made for; for larger receptions we add more musicians from the band.
At weddings on Mallorca the aperitif plays a special role: at many venues on the island, a band is no longer allowed to play in the evening. The afternoon drinks reception then becomes the main live moment of the day — and we plan line-up, repertoire and playing time around it from the start.
Gemini Music has played weddings on Mallorca (Son Marroig, Alcúdia/Bonaire, Algaida), on Crete (Rethymno, Chania) and on the Algarve (Monte Rei) — each open air, with the aperitif as a fixed part of the programme.
Line-ups: from duo to live band
Duo: piano & vocals
The classic line-up for ceremony and drinks reception. A singer and a pianist, acoustic and understated, at home in any registry office and on any terrace. Very often it is exactly this duo that couples book for the ceremony.
Extended duo
For receptions with many guests or outdoors, we add further musicians from the band to the duo — more depth of sound, the same restraint.
From aperitif into the party
If the full band plays in the evening, the aperitif already starts with part of it. The line-up grows over the day — one team, one contact, one timeline. Wedding entertainment from a single source.
A wedding day with Gemini Music
You can book each phase on its own — ceremony only, drinks reception only — or the whole day from one team of wedding musicians:
01
Ceremony
Piano and vocals duo: processional, exchange of rings, recessional — your songs, timed to the order of service.
02
Drinks reception
The duo keeps playing while guests congratulate you and photos are taken. On Mallorca often the musical highlight of the day.
03
Dinner
Background music at controlled volume — conversation at the table stays in the foreground.
04
Party
The full band takes over: first dance, dance floor, and on request a hand-over to the DJ.

Equipment for ceremony and reception
We bring backline, in-ear monitoring and our own FOH sound engineer. PA and lighting are coordinated with the venue — on request we supply the complete system, priced in the quote.
For outdoor ceremonies we rely on a compact, discreet setup: piano, vocal microphone and sound that reaches the back rows without dominating the ceremony. What we clarify in advance: a power supply within reach, shade for instruments and equipment, wind protection for microphones — and the route from the ceremony spot to the drinks reception if the two are in different places.
Frequently asked
Is live music allowed at a civil ceremony?
Usually yes, in consultation with the registry office. Many ceremony rooms allow live music for the processional, the rings and the recessional; you clear approval and timing with your registry office, we take care of the rest.
Can we have our own songs played in church?
That is agreed with the priest, minister or parish. Many parishes welcome voice and piano at certain points of the liturgy; we adapt repertoire and running order to their guidelines.
Do you also play outdoor ceremonies?
Yes. For outdoors we bring a compact setup that accompanies the ceremony discreetly. In advance we clarify power, weather protection and placement — the rest is music.
How long does the duo play at the drinks reception?
As long as the reception lasts — usually until guests are called to dinner. We set the exact playing time with you and the timeline; longer receptions, for example on Mallorca, are planned accordingly.
How much does wedding ceremony music cost?
Depending on line-up and playing time, around €2,600 to €25,000 net. Entry level is a duo from around €2,600, or a duo with DJ from around €3,800; the full line-up goes up to €25,000. Travel and accommodation are shown transparently in the quote.
How early should we enquire?
As early as possible — summer Saturdays go first. With your date, venue and a rough idea of the running order you receive availability and a binding quote within 24 hours.
Why is the drinks reception so important on Mallorca?
Because at many venues on Mallorca a band is no longer allowed to play in the evening. The afternoon aperitif then becomes the main live moment of the day — we plan line-up and repertoire around it.
Do you perform in English and German?
Yes. We accompany ceremonies and receptions in English and in German — for international guest lists we select the repertoire accordingly.
